A single rice paddy at dusk, from infestation to harvest. The camera moves low through the crop as rice leaf folders (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis) arrive and roll the leaves shut, L-limonene is applied, the pests are driven off, and the field recovers to a golden harvest. L-limonene is a compound rice already produces in its own defence, just not in useful amounts. NoFold engineers E. coli to produce it, giving farmers a low-barrier way to cut pesticide use without the risk of a full switch to organic farming. https://2026.igem.wiki/ccu-taiwan/
