        <description>Title: LEDA: Living Engineered Diagnositc Assay Description: Environmental hazards, such as radiation exposure and severe air pollution, cause silent genomic damage and oxidative stress. Yet, early detection traditionally relies on expensive, time-consuming laboratory processes. To bridge this gap, our iGEM Ioannina team developed LEDA: a rapid, point-of-care diagnostic tool that utilizes a dual-reporter bacterial biosensor to monitor cellular health in real-time. Our engineered system identifies specific biomarkers of DNA damage by pairing a surface-display sensing platform with an intracellular riboswitch mechanism, yielding a distinct, two-color fluorescent output. Because these amplified signals are quantifiable directly through a smartphone interface, LEDA aims to eliminate the need for specialized hardware, ultimately democratizing diagnostics and making preventative healthcare accessible to every community in silent danger.
