<description>This animation demonstrates the hydrogel encapsulation stage of Evara, our proposed probiotic-based system for preventing recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). The video begins with Lactobacillus crispatus bacteria carrying inhibitor proteins on their surfaces. A hydrogel network then forms around the bacteria, gradually enclosing them within a protective structure. The resulting encapsulated bacteria are shown inside a protective hydrogel delivery system. This approach is intended to help deliver beneficial bacteria to the vaginal environment, support their survival and retention, and promote restoration of the protective vaginal microbiome following antibiotic treatment. The animation illustrates how hydrogel encapsulation forms part of Evara's proposed strategy for delivering beneficial bacteria and reducing the risk of recurrent infections.
