Title: Cocktail Control - detecting methanol in drinks using synthetic biology Description: iGEM BK-Denmark 2026 - Cocktail Control. Methanol poisoning usually happens in Southeast Asia and the fatality rate is between 20-40%. Methanol is especially dangerous because it is a colorless and tasteless liquid and as little 30 mL is the reported lowest fatal dose, and 10 mL can cause permanent blindness. Our project is about creating an enzyme based methanol sensor, designed to be cheap and easy to use. If methanol is present in a drink, the sensor will react with the methanol and create a visual color readout. Wiki | Official Page
