Title: Acoustic Probiotics Description: Acoustic Probiotics is a WIST iGEM 2026 (High School) project reimagining how we screen for colorectal cancer. Current tests are either accurate but invasive, or easy but unreliable — so many people are diagnosed late. We are engineering a gut bacterium that senses two chemical signals enriched around colorectal tumours, lactate and nitrate, and is designed to fire only when both are present, making itself visible on an ultrasound scan. This video introduces the problem, our two-signal design, and where our work stands: our constructs are built and delivered, and characterisation is the next step. The aim is a non-invasive test you could swallow, with a result your doctor could see. Official Page
