        <description>Title: SynMine: E-Waste to Gold Description: Ghana has two problems. Agbogbloshie is the largest e-waste site in the world. Its discarded circuit boards contain more than 10 tonnes of gold. At the same time, unregulated mining pollutes the rivers and the soil to find the same metal. SynMine solves the two problems with a cyclical process. Engineered E. coli bacteria make a thiosulphate leaching agent. The bacteria then binds to the gold ions with a gold-binding fusion protein.
