Title: BioWipe: Engineered Bacillus subtilis for Rinse-Free Scalp Care and Hair Conditioning Description: Scalp discomfort makes washing difficult for postoperative, postpartum, traveling, and bedridden users. BioWipe is a waterless finger-sleeve applicator with separate dry and wet components. It uses engineered Bacillus subtilis to rebalance the scalp microbiome. Stored dry and activated upon use, it uses an LCFA-responsive sensor to detect excess sebum and trigger Penetratin-mediated antifungal activity, while constitutive K31-PepG supports hair repair. A xylose- and population-density-responsive biosafety switch limits bacterial survival after the product leaves the scalp. User interviews and industry research led us to replace a wipe with a finger sleeve for better access through hair and helped define regulatory boundaries for live products. Dry Lab promoter prediction, protein structural analysis, and population and storage modeling inform the design. GEMR Studio supports collaboration among iGEM teams. We propose phased commercialization through Basic (non-viable), Advanced (postbiotic), and LivePlatform (self-limiting live) products for care between washes. Wiki | Official Page
