        <description>Title: After the River Turned Black — A Biosensor for PAHs Detection and Degradation Description: A fish watched its home being swallowed by dark water. That last glimpse became the beginning of a question. We tell this story through the visual language of neo-Chinese ink wash, from a fish's perspective, infused with the red-black palette and phoenix motifs of the ancient Chu culture. Starting with naphthalene, we designed an integrated biosensor system for PAHs detection and degradation. The system consists of two engineered strains working in tandem — the degrader converts naphthalene into salicylic acid via the nahABCDEF gene cluster; the sensor detects salicylic acid through the NahR regulatory protein, driving eGFP expression and producing a quantifiable green fluorescent signal. Through promoter engineering and saturation mutagenesis, we significantly improved sensitivity and lowered the detection limit. From lab to real-world application — a biosensor for a cleaner future.
