Our project integrates complementary strategies for optimizing the 5′ untranslated region (UTR) and coding sequence (CDS), including an ERNIE-RNA-based hybrid genetic algorithm, Optimus-guided directed mutation, a conditional variational autoencoder, a multi-objective genetic algorithm, and a structure-aware Transformer-based Refiner. These methods are integrated into RNA Optimization Studio, a local application for sequence optimization, candidate evaluation, and full-construct assembly. We evaluated our computational workflows and investigated selected UTR candidates using a fluorescent reporter assay. Beyond algorithm development, discussions with researchers, industry professionals, fellow iGEM teams, and cat caregivers helped shape our design choices, validation strategy, and approach to responsible AI. We also developed educational resources to make synthetic biology more accessible. Our goal is not to claim a proven alternative to existing veterinary procedures, but to build a systematic, interpretable, and reusable computational platform that supports mRNA design and further biological validation.
