Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), one of the most toxic and widespread cyanobacterial toxins, threatens aquatic ecosystems, agriculture, and human health. Our project brings synthetic biology into real-time water protection. We developed a smart biological monitoring system that detects MC-LR through a START RNA switch, amplifies the signal with quorum sensing, and converts toxin levels into a quantitative fluorescence warning. Once a risk is detected, drones can precisely deploy engineered bacteria to degrade the toxin. From detection to warning, from treatment to biosafety, we aim to build a closed-loop solution for smarter and safer water management.
