        <description>Title: AnTigone: A Living Biotherapeutic to Manage Hyperandrogenism in PMOS Description: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), affects millions of women worldwide, with hyperandrogenism being a key driver of symptoms such as irregular periods, acne, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. To address the lack of therapeutically precise treatments, iGEM Lund 2026 is developing a proof-of-concept synthetic biology platform designed to tackle androgen excess locally within the gut. By engineering a bacterial strain to express androgen-metabolizing enzymes under the control of a gut-responsive transcriptional switch, our system aims to convert excess androgens into less bioactive metabolites. Our project seeks to contribute on two fronts simultaneously: improving pathophysiological understanding of PMOS and generating potential management strategies. Official Page</description>
