<description>We introduce how to select a modeling question, identify relevant reaction steps and variables, and use predictions to guide experimental design before committing lab time and materials. Building on the LANCET example, we connect reagent interactions to changes in protein concentration and fluorescence output over time. We explain how MATLAB, ordinary differential equations, and data from scientific literature can be used to model biological reactions.
