Title: AstroFlora: Solutions for Plant Growth in Microgravity Description: Growing plants in space is essential for controlled ecological life support systems, as plants provide food, oxygen, and purified water, absorb carbon dioxide, improve the environment, and alleviate psychological stress for astronauts, while also laying the groundwork for lunar and Martian settlements. However, microgravity disrupts normal plant growth, partly through excessive accumulation of abscisic acid (ABA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in roots. Here, we designed a plant probiotic system based on engineered E. coli that reduces this excessive hormonal accumulation in plant roots under microgravity conditions, enabling normal plant growth despite microgravity stress. We also developed a hardware system, Floraspin, that facilitates laboratory simulation of plant growth under microgravity conditions, and verified its effectiveness in promoting Arabidopsis germination Wiki | Official Page
