<description>This animation explains the recurring cycle of bacterial infections and antibiotic treatment, and illustrates how Evara aims to help prevent recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). The video begins by showing harmful bacteria multiplying within the vaginal microbiome, leading to pathogen overgrowth. Antibiotic treatment is then introduced to control the infection. However, following treatment, the protective bacterial community may remain disrupted, allowing harmful bacteria to recolonize and potentially contribute to another infection. The animation illustrates how this cycle of pathogen overgrowth, antibiotic treatment, and recolonization can repeat. Evara proposes a different approach focused on prevention. The animation introduces beneficial Lactobacillus crispatus bacteria delivered through a protective hydrogel system. These bacteria are intended to help restore a healthier vaginal microbiome, while attached inhibitor proteins are designed to interfere with pathogen attachment. By supporting beneficial bacteria and targeting pathogen colonization, Evara aims to reduce the likelihood of recurring infections and the need for repeated antibiotic treatments.
