However, as the disease progresses, the difficulty of treatment increases, ultimately leading to severe consequences such as tooth loss and even more serious infections. This video introduces our project, where we are committed to developing a method based on custom-engineered bacteria for the oral cavity. This method monitors the quorum sensing signals of the pathogenic bacterium Streptococcus mutans and reports the disease location through pigment proteins, enabling early diagnosis. Additionally, the expression products of the engineered bacteria can also inhibit the formation of dental calculus and weaken the activity of pathogenic bacteria.
