Title: Soil Shield Description: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are pollutants that persist in soil for decades, biomagnifying through food chains and posing carcinogenic risks to communities across the world, including families in urban neighborhoods, agricultural workers, and firefighters. NU Boston engineered Pseudomonas putida to degrade naphthalene, a common PAH, down to safe, natural byproducts. Our solution includes stress-tolerance engineering, alginate bead delivery, and a salicylate-activated biological kill switch for safe environmental release. Additionally, specialized soil chambers and a predictive web app support testing and deployment targeting. Wiki | Official Page
