Title: HIDE - HLA Interference via Disguise and Erasure Description: Transplanted organs are often rejected because the recipient's immune system recognizes specific proteins on the donor organ's surface as "non-self" and attacks them. To prevent this, patients currently need to take immunosuppressive drugs for the rest of their lives, which weakens their entire immune system and leaves them vulnerable to infections and other complications. Our project, HIDE, aims to solve this more precisely: instead of broadly suppressing the immune system, we are developing a therapy that locally downregulates these donor proteins directly on the transplanted organ, making it less visible to the immune system. Our long-term goal is to improve transplant outcomes without the long-term effects of conventional immunosuppression. Wiki | Official Page
