<description>Title: ReLeaf: Converting Agricultural and Garden Waste into Bioethanol with Five Engineered Pichia pastoris Strains Description: We are ReLeaf from WLSA Shanghai Academy. In our promotional video, we introduce a synthetic biology solution to combat the pollution and resource waste caused by traditional agricultural and garden waste disposal. To tackle tough plant lignocellulose, ReLeaf engineered five Pichia pastoris GS115 strains into specialized enzyme factories—secreting Laccase, Endoglucanase, Exoglucanase, beta-Glucosidase, and Xylanase—while incorporating built-in auxotrophic biosafety controls. By harvesting the cell-free enzyme mixture to break down plant waste and pairing it with a yeast co-culture system: Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Scheffersomyces stipitis, we ferment the target sugars into clean bioethanol within 72 hours.
