Title: BioChronos Description: BioChronos is a proposed biological recorder for environmental contamination events. Conventional water testing describes the moment a sample was taken, so a short-lived copper exposure can appear and vanish between scheduled tests while people keep using that water source. BioChronos combines a copper-responsive sensor with a DNA-based memory module built on Bxb1 integrase, which inverts a DNA segment to flip the system between two states: no exposure recorded, and exposure recorded. We cover the problem, the system design, the Human Practices work that shaped it along the Musi River in Hyderabad, our experimental results, and what remains to be proven. We assembled three constructs and measured a 2.08-fold fluorescence increase in our M1 reporter at 1,000 µM copper sulphate. We have not yet demonstrated DNA inversion or the link between sensing and recording. BioChronos is not a replacement for conventional water testing. It aims to add one more piece of evidence, a flag that says something happened here, come look. Because even when the water moves on, the evidence doesn’t have to. Wiki | Official Page
