BYHS-CHN is exploring a synthetic biology approach designed to go one step further: breaking asbestos down. Our proposed system combines HEPA filtration with engineered E. coli that release oxalic acid, capture metal ions through ZupT, and produce an MFP-inspired adhesive to collect the remaining material for safer removal.
