Title: CPS (Citrus–Protein–Soil) Cycle: From Waste to Recovery Description: Wildfires leave behind more than burned landscapes. They alter soil chemistry, introduce potentially harmful compounds, and create challenges for ecosystem recovery. In this presentation, the 2026 iGEM Team TJI-Seoul introduces CPS Cycle (Citrus–Protein–Soil), a synthetic biology-based approach that combines citrus waste with engineered proteins to explore a sustainable strategy for post-wildfire soil restoration. Our project focuses on recombinant CotA laccase, an enzyme capable of oxidizing phenolic compounds, and the development of citrus-derived materials for potential soil applications. Throughout this presentation, we share our scientific rationale, experimental design, recombinant protein production and optimization, enzyme activity studies, citrus waste processing, and plant germination experiments. We also discuss the challenges encountered, our experimental findings, and opportunities for further improvement. By connecting agricultural waste valorization, protein engineering, and environmental biotechnology, CPS Cycle aims to explore how synthetic biology can contribute to a more sustainable future. From waste to recovery, one cycle at a time. #iGEM2026 #TJISeoul #CPSCycle #SyntheticBiology #EnvironmentalBiotechnology #SoilRestoration #Sustainability Wiki | Official Page
