        <description>Title: Antibio Wars Description: When we take antibiotics, not all of them are fully broken down by our bodies. Some residues end up in wastewater and can persist in the environment. This can contribute to the spread of antimicrobial resistance. That’s where our iGEM team comes in! Our idea is to use synthetic biology to produce bacterial laccase enzymes that can break down antibiotics such as sulfonamides. We immobilize these enzymes inside a treatment column, so when contaminated wastewater flows through, the laccases can oxidize and degrade the antibiotic residues. What makes our approach exciting is that the enzymes can be reused, making the system more sustainable and potentially more affordable. Wiki | Official Page</description>
