Existing slope protection works, but planting and root reinforcement take decades to reach full strength. seisMIC takes a different route. We engineer Sporosarcina pasteurii, a soil bacterium, to precipitate calcium carbonate between soil particles. The grains bind together, the slope gains cohesion, and the treatment sets in weeks rather than decades. The Alps built themselves from calcium carbonate.
