Title: α Synu-Clear: When α-synuclein stacks up, autophagy steps up. Description: α Synu-Clear presents a synthetic biology approach to combat α-synuclein proteinopathy by enabling the selective recognition and clearance of pathological protein aggregates. Through the design and characterization of our system, we aim to reduce the burden of toxic α-synuclein and explore new therapeutic possibilities for neurodegenerative disorders. To support and optimize our design, we developed LEDGe, a computational model for de novo binding proteins that targets receptors embedded in the membrane. Safety was a central focus throughout our project. In addition to conducting a comprehensive risk assessment, we created two practical guidebooks to promote safe laboratory work and responsible synthetic biology practices. In this video, we present the challenge, our solution, and our vision for combating neurodegeneration through innovative and responsible synthetic biology. Wiki | Official Page
