Title: Acoustic Probiotic Description: What if finding colorectal cancer early meant swallowing a pill and having a scan, instead of collecting a stool sample? Team WIST built an E. coli that looks for two chemical signatures of a tumour at once, and answers by growing gas-filled protein shells that show up on a clinical ultrasound. We designed and ordered six constructs, characterised a nitrate sensor that cleared a performance bar we set in advance, and wrote our own open-source software so that every base of DNA we ordered traces back to its source. Along the way we found something we weren’t looking for: the ceiling on the whole circuit, and exactly where the next team should start. Wiki | Official Page
