Diagnosing them is important, both to enable the choice of a fitting antibiotic and to isolate people where necessary. Currently, this is a lengthy and resource intensive process. We developed a point of care test using LB-Cas12a to identify specific DNA sequences and gold nanoparticles combined with ssDNA based reporters for a visual output. We validated the target specificity, as well as the cis and trans cleavage of the LB-Cas12a and the minimal target concentration for detection. Additionally, we ran successful tests of the optical sensing hardware and obtained promising results for the Recombinant Polymerase Amplification. Besides the hardware design, which was heavily influenced by human practices, our dry lab work focused on research regarding available AMR sequence information. Outside of the lab we took part in numerous events to bring scientific education to interested people of all ages.
