<description>Title: EctoBloom: Green Biomanufacturing of Ectoine for Sensitive Skin Repair and Facial Mask Application Description: We introduce EctoBloom, our synthetic biology project exploring sustainable ectoine production and its potential application in skincare. We share our engineering journey, from constructing the ectABC biosynthetic pathway and optimizing fermentation conditions to introducing the LysC T352I mutation, achieving a 26% increase in ectoine production. We also explore bacterial cellulose-based sheet masks and wheat straw hydrolysate as an alternative carbon source. Beyond laboratory research, we highlight how Human Practices guided our engineering decisions and product development, while our educational activities helped us promote synthetic biology, engage diverse audiences, and make science more accessible to the public.
