<description>Title: PlantGuard: Based on a Synthetic Biology Dual-Module System for Coordinated Drought Management in Plants Description: To address global water scarcity and frequent droughts—where conventional irrigation relies on human experience and often leads to over- or delayed watering—we present PlantGuard, a synthetic-biology-based dual-module drought management system using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the chassis. The alert module drives expression of the blue chromoprotein amilCP under drought-inducible promoters, turning gel beads from white to blue upon water deficit as an intuitive visual warning. The soil-improvement module expresses dcsA and hasA-hasB to synthesize biodegradable cellulose and hyaluronic acid polymers in situ, enhancing rhizosphere water retention. Together, the two modules achieve "water retention + alerting." An accompanying ADRS hardware integrates in-situ sensing, ESP32 edge computing, wireless networking, and a mobile app to form a closed "sense–decide–respond" loop, offering a precise, autonomous, and sustainable water-management solution for both home gardening and large-scale agriculture.
