        <description>Title: Introducing R.E.I.G.N. - A Sustainable Strategy Against American Foulbrood Description: Honeybees are essential to our ecosystems and food systems, supporting crops valued at an estimated €265 billion worldwide. Yet American Foulbrood (AFB) continues to devastate honeybee colonies, leaving beekeepers with few options to stop its spread. Our team is developing a novel fusion peptide that combines the natural antimicrobial properties of royalisin with the targeted action of phage-derived endolysin to fight Paenibacillus larvae, the bacteria responsible for AFB. Through synthetic biology, we aim to challenge the current limitations of AFB treatment and create a new path toward protecting honeybees and the ecosystems that depend on them.
