Title: ECHOYeast:An airborne influenza A virus monitoring biosensor based on engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Description: From everyday public spaces — subway stations, shopping malls, schools — where people move and gather, we identify the hidden risk of influenza transmission. While PCR and antigen tests can tell us whether a person is infected, they cannot tell us whether the air is safe. This is the overlooked gap in public health. To bridge this gap, we built a yeast-based solution. With PAGERs, we turned the yeast cell membrane into a virus-sensing "gate": when the virus is present, the gate opens, activating the signaling pathway. At the same time, we applied CRISPR-Cas9 to knock out noise genes from the genome, enabling reliable signal amplification. Ultimately, the yeast lights up — this is EchoYeast, a living sentinel that watches the air for all of us. Wiki | Official Page
