Title: BioCall: Using odor signals to support aphid biocontrol Description: What if engineered yeast could produce odor signals that help ladybirds find aphid-infested plants? Inspired by the sticky “rain” beneath Shanghai’s street trees, MammothEdu-East developed BioCall to explore this approach. Through a literature review, we selected five candidate compounds: (E)-β-farnesene, β-caryophyllene, methyl salicylate, linalool and limonene. This video follows our journey from conversations with park staff and growers to enzyme selection, yeast engineering, chemical analysis, modeling and educational outreach. We share our experimental progress and explore how these five compounds could support aphid biocontrol. Wiki | Official Page
