Title: Protecting Pollinators from Within Description: Honey bees are essential pollinators, but pesticide exposure continues to threaten their health and survival. Our project takes a different approach: protecting bees from within. By engineering Snodgrassella alvi, a natural member of the honey bee gut microbiome, we aim to create a microbial defense system capable of breaking down harmful organophosphate pesticides. Using synthetic biology, we hope to turn the bee microbiome into an added layer of protection for one of the world’s most important pollinators. Wiki | Official Page
