<description>Title: Pesticide Cleanup: Broad-Spectrum Degradation and Real-Time Monitoring of Organophosphate Pesticides Description: The large scale application of organophosphorus pesticides and phosphonate herbicides such as glyphosate in modern agriculture has given rise to severe risks of combined contamination in soil and water bodies. These compounds exhibit neurotoxicity or potential carcinogenicity, while conventional physicochemical remediation incurs high costs. This project adopts synthetic biology approaches to construct engineered bacteria using Escherichia coli as the chassis organism. Two genes, OPD and GAT, are introduced to synergistically degrade organophosphorus pesticides including chlorpyrifos and multiple pesticide residues such as glyphosate. Meanwhile, two sets of colorimetric detection systems are incorporated to serve as visual indicators for environmental pollution. It aims to develop a bioremediation strategy integrating environmental sensing, multi target degradation and real time monitoring, so as to safeguard food safety and ecological environment.
