Currently, troponin and H-FABP tests are the gold standards for early detection. Unfortunately, these tests are time consuming and present additional cost barriers both within clinical and outpatient settings. Team Oneonta’s project, OneHEART, aims to lower the cost threshold associated with existing rapid tests and create an inexpensive, high-sensitivity lateral flow assay using nanobody detection of troponin and H-FABP in a blood sample. In addition, we are supporting a heart-healthy community through educational outreach and training.
